Math
Students are offered three years of Regents Mathematics. These courses are designed to prepare students for the New York State Examination in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.
- RHHS is using the Illustrative Mathematics (IM) Curriculum for the Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry Courses. IM is “fully aligned to the focus, rigor, and coherence of the standards”. The scope and sequence of units, activities, and representations are designed to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, build fluency with procedures, and solve mathematical problems that reflect their lived experiences. Embedded within the curriculum are Mathematical Language Routines to support academic language development for all learners.
- RHHS Math teachers are also building students’ critical thinking skills, reading comprehension skills, and academic vocabulary to prepare them for state exams and for post-secondary success.
